Frequently Asked Questions
Contact usWhat is mediation?
You and your ex-partner sit down with a neutral person (a mediator) who helps you talk things through and find fair solutions that work for both of you.
How is mediation different from going to court?
Court can be stressful, expensive, and time-consuming. Mediation is more private, relaxed, and usually faster. You and your ex-partner make the decisions together – instead of a judge making them for you.
Do both me and my ex-partner have to agree to mediate?
Yes. Mediation is a voluntary process that only works when both sides are willing to participate and open to talking things through.
Is mediation legally binding?
It can be. Once you reach an agreement, your mediator will help you put it in writing. If both you and your ex-partner sign and choose to submit it to the court, it becomes a legally binding court order.
